Public Lecture by Professor Yelena Kalyuzhnova

KazSociety is delighted to invite you to a
public lecture by Professor Yelena Kalyuzhnova. The lecture will be on
the topic of local content and how it relates to the economic
development of a resource-rich country. This is very relevant to the
issues Kazakhstan faces today, and will be of interest to all
Kazakhstani students in the UK. The lecture will last approximately 30
minutes and will be followed by a Q&A session.
Professor
Kalyuzhnova is a leading academic authority in her field. After working
as an Economic Advisor to the President of Kazakhstan, Professor
Kalyuzhnova founded and is Director of the Centre for Euro-Asian
Studies at the University of Reading. She has a wide knowledge of the
transition and emerging economies. Professor Kalyuzhnova is an economic
adviser on Caspian issues to the Rt. Hon. Lord Fraser of Carmyllie,
Q.C., House of Lords and an economic adviser to All-Party Parliamentary
Group on Kazakhstan. Yelena is currently a Senior Visiting Research
Fellow of the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies.
This is
the third public lecture which KazSociety has hosted. Previous speakers
included Grigoriy Marchenko (chairman of Kazakhstan’s central bank),
Bulat Zhamishev (Minister of Finance).
The public lecture
will take place on Thursday, 12th of November at 6.00pm. Location:
University College London (UCL), Roberts Building, G06 Ambrose Flemings LT.
